Free entry to many national museum permanent collections

Many UK national museums and galleries (covered centrally at the National Museum websites) offer free entry to permanent collections, allowing residents and visitors to see major art, history and science exhibits without charge. Exhibitions, special displays or timed-ticketed shows may have charges, but core galleries are usually free to enter; concessions apply where paid entry exists. Check details and opening times at https://www.nationalmuseums.org.uk before visiting to confirm what is free and how to access it.
