The NHS website explains free, core healthcare available at the point of use across the UK: GP consultations, A&E and urgent care, NHS mental health services and a range of screening and vaccinations. Prescription charges are waived in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (in England most people pay unless they qualify for an exemption), and some eye tests and dental care are free for particular groups.
